Anxiety Natural Remedies: These 2 Herbal Supplements Will Cure Anxiety

anxiety natural remediesDo you suffer from anxiety? Would you like to feel less anxious and more cheerful on a daily basis? Then you’ve probably thought of all different sorts of solutions. Maybe you’ve tried some prescription drugs. Or you took up a stress releasing activity such as meditation or sports. Whatever it is that you’ve tried – one of the solutions that really helps if you suffer from anxiety are anxiety natural remedies.

In this article I’ll teach you everything you need to know about anxiety natural remedies. We’ll also discuss why they are a better choice than prescription drugs. And why it’s a great way to release anxious thoughts.

What are anxiety natural remedies

As the name says, these are certain types of herbs of natural plants that can be ingested to combat anxiety. Many of these herbs have been used for centuries (and some even for thousands of years) by ancient tribes all around the world.

Before, the herbs were always harvested by the tribe (or the people) themselves in the area where they lived. So each different culture had their own anxiety treating herbs depending on where they lived. So they were quite limited in their choices.

Luckily for us, we live in the modern world. And this means that we have access to virtually every supplement or herb! And the main benefit of these herbs is that we know that they are effective. After all, people have been ingesting them against their anxiety for hundreds or thousands of years!

Why choose for anxiety natural remedies?

This is also the main reason why I recommend everyone who experience anxiety to go the natural route first. Why? Because it’s safer. After all, the effects (and side effects) have been studied for a very long time. And when you compare that to many prescription drugs (who are often only on the market for a couple of years), it is a very good idea to play it safe first.

Another reason is also because many drugs have a very strong effect. This might help decrease your anxiety and make you feel better in the short term. But unfortunately this also makes them very addictive. And if you stop taking them you might find that your anxiety becomes even worse…

Anxiety natural remedies have the benefit that they also work through a natural way. Instead of artificially making your brain produce *calm chemicals*, they help your brain by providing the building blocks to a happy and calm brain.

See the small nuanced difference there? It is better to help your brain learn how it can be calm instead of forcing it with brute force to feel calm.

The first option will work well in the long term. The second one has a very high chance of making you feel even worse after you stop taking the drugs.

Anyway, we’ve discussed this topic in a couple of other posts as well on MySupplementsguide.com. Take a look at this article about herbal anxiety remedies for example. Or this article about 7 cures for anxiety that actually work!

2 effective anxiety natural remedies:

Okay, now that you know why it’s a good idea to treat your anxiety in a natural way. Let’s discuss which anxiety natural remedies I recommend you try. After all, these 2 supplements have no side effects. And there are many benefits that you can (and will) experience when you start taking them.

L theanine

L theanine is a compound that is naturally found in green tea. It’s the reason why green tea feels so much relaxed and calming compared to coffee – even though they both contain caffeine. One simple way to feel calmer is then to substitute your coffee with green tea.

anxiety theanine
Taking capsules of L theanine will do wonders for your anxiety!

The reason theanine helps you feel calmer is because it increases alpha brain waves in your brain. These waves are associated with feeling calm – but focused and concentrated. The reason why this works is because it literally shifts your brain in a more calm state. Studies have been done and shown that people who suffer from anxiety have a reduced rate of alpha waves in their brain.  You can restore the natural balance by taking L theanine.

As I said before. The easiest way to get some L theanine is by drinking green tea. However, some of you might not like green tea. And others might find that they need to drink 5 cups before they feel the L theanine. (A regular cup contains maybe 20 mg of L theanine – the recommended dosage for anxiety start at 100 mg).

So, for many people who suffer from anxiety, it’s a better idea to take L theanine as supplement. Click here for more information about taking L theanine for anxiety.

Ashwagandha

Another great herbal anxiety remedy is ashwagandha. It’s a herb that has quite a bitter taste. Literally translated to English the name means ‘the smell of a horse’. That’s why I recommend you take it in capsules. It’s a great herb to make you feel calmer and more relaxed.

The reasons why ashwagandha works so well against anxiety is because it is an adaptogen. Adaptogens are a class of herbs that make your anti-stress system stronger. And if you suffer from anxiety you have an over responsive stress system. Ashwagandha will help restore the balance in your body and make you calmer and less anxious.

Click here for my complete review of ashwagandha and how it can help you feel better and more relaxed.

Anxiety natural remedies – last words

Natural remedies work great to combat anxiety. They are very safe and can be a real life saver when you’re feeling anxious. I recommend you either get some L theanine or ashwagandha and start taking it in the morning for 1 week.

After a week you’ll know if it works and if you feel better. And you will feel less anxiety in your entire life! And this is a great feeling.

P.S. I recommend you start taking L theanine if you suffer from anxiety. Click here to find out what the right dosage of L theanine is for anxiety!

Do I Have Anxiety? Find Out If You Are Suffering From an Anxiety Disorder

do i have anxiety“Do I have anxiety?” It’s a question that often pops up on this website. After all, many people in the world suffer from anxiety. So it’s only logical that people look for an answer. Maybe you’re worried that you suffer from anxiety? Or you just want to find out if what you’re feeling really is a problem – or just a stage of life that will go away on its own.

Whatever your reasons for coming here. You’re not alone. On this page you’ll learn all about the symptoms of anxiety. And you can perform your own checklist of whether you have anxiety or not.

Do I have anxiety?

It is estimated that more than 53% of people will experience some sort of anxiety in their life. And with that I don’t mean being a little anxious before public speaking or a job interview. But some sort of prolonged period of anxiety. This is of course bad news. But fortunately knowing that everyone can be susceptible to anxiety can be a very helpful thing too.

Since it is so common, there are many symptoms classified that can help you diagnose whether you suffer from anxiety or not. And knowing who your enemy is, is already half of the battle.

Note: I am not and MD. However, I have suffered from anxiety myself. And I know many others who have. If you feel really anxious/bad, I recommend you go see your doctor.

Do I have anxiety checklist

If you’re feeling anxious all the time and want to know if you’re suffering from an anxiety disorder. Then you can do the checklist below. In it I have described 6 common symptoms of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). I’ll explain each symptom and you can make a mental (or physical note) whether you experience that symptom or not.

This is a list of symptoms that many people with GAD experience. So there are more out there. However, these are the most common. If you experience at least 3 of these symptoms in half a year, you can get diagnosed with GAD.

#1 Excessive worry (about all sorts of activities and situations)

If you are always feeling worried about any type of situation, then you might have GAD. Excessive worry can be classified as worry that out of proportion to the situation or event. For example, feeling extremely worried about going to a party of your friends or family.

For most people these events are fun (and maybe a bit stressful – but not anxiety). So if you find yourself excessively worrying to the point where you’re feeling really bad, then it could be that you have GAD. Please take note how often this happens. As everyone feels anxiety once a while for seemingly ‘normal’ events. But if you experience it many times over the course of 6 months – it might be wise to dive deeper into it.

#2 Difficulty thinking

Another common symptom is that you find it difficult to think or concentrate. This can be because anxiety releases stress hormones in the body. These in turn activate the fight or flight response. In the short term this can make you feel more alert and concentrated.

However, people suffering from anxiety have their anxiety response activated all the time. Your body is literally exhausted and one of the first things that your body will shut down are your critical thinking skills in the brain.

do you have anxiety
If you find yourself with difficulties thinking and no focus for a long time – you could be suffering from anxiety

#3 Easily getting tired

Not only your mind is tired. Your body will also wear down from anxiety over a long period of time. For your body there is no difference whether there’s a lion chasing you down the Savannah, or an upcoming test, or excessively worrying about whether you turned off the gas at home while you’re on vacation.

Being tired all the time is because your body is completely worn down from the stress hormones that are constantly released into your body.

#4 Feeling restless or agitated

At the same time anxiety can also make you feel restless or agitated all the time. You might feel tired, but you still have many stress hormones running through your body. The purpose of these hormones is to spur you into action (fight or flight again). So your body still feels primed to respond to something all the time.

This causes the feeling of being restless (physical) or agitated (mind).

#5 Muscle fatigue and tension

Another effect is that your muscles feel continually activated. If you experience that you are tired, but your muscles are very sore and tense, then it could be that you are suffering from anxiety. Again, everybody experiences sore muscle and muscle tension once in a while.

But if you experience these symptoms on a consistent base, then anxiety could be the culprit.

#6 Difficulty sleeping

The final thing that virtually everyone who has problems with anxiety feels is trouble sleeping. Whether it’s because you can’t stop the worrying thoughts in your head while you lay down in bed. Or because you’re feeling restless – anxiety is really bad for sleeping.

And not sleeping well makes you even more tired and anxious the next day. So it’s a circle that will make you feel worse and worse as time goes by.

do i have anxiety test
If you are sleeping worse than you used to sleep, it could be because of anxiety.

Do I have anxiety – final words

So, let’s recap: the answer to the question “Do I have anxiety?” can be found with the previous checklist. If you experience 3 or more of these symptoms over a 6 months period – then you have anxiety.

In this case it’s a good idea to go see your doctor and find out if he can help you with anything. Maybe he can offer you some prescription drugs to treat your anxiety. Or he’ll know of some good herbal options.

P.S. Looking for a solution to your anxiety? I have personally found L theanine to be one of the most effective supplements available to combat anxiety. You can read my complete review of L theanine here and find out how exactly it works when you suffer from anxious thoughts.

Theanine Side Effects: These Studies Say the Following…

theanine side effectsYou’ve been reading up about L theanine? It’s a great supplement that can help you feel calmer and more focused. It’s a great thing to take if you have a difficult test coming up and need to study. Or if you have a tough project at work and you will need to be laser-focused for the day. Oh, and did I mention that it’s also a great supplement to take if you suffer from anxiety? Many people who experience anxiety find that it no longer controls their life when they start taking L theanine. But what about the l theanine side effects?

Theanine is a great supplement. And many people therefore think that it must have some negative side effects. After all, what goes up must come down, right? Well, in the case of l theanine this seems to be untrue.

Many studies have been and none of them has shown any negative theanine side effects. And this is also the case in my own experience. There are however, 2 things you need to watch out for when taking l theanine. I’ll discuss these later in this article.

Theanine side effects

There are no real theanine side effects.

As we’ve said before. Studies have been down to try and see if theanine has any negative side effects. After all, if you’re taking anything for your health (or to focus or get rid of your anxiety). Then it’s a great thing to know whether it has any potential negative effects.

Luckily for us, these studies did not find anything. So you can safely take your theanine if you want to feel better or focus.

And did you know that in Japan companies can put as many theanine in their products as they want. They even put it in many sodas and other dishes. So there are no regulations there. And if it would be bad for your health – than something like this would never be possible.

So, L theanine is a great supplement. It works very well if you want to focus, be calm or less anxious. And there are no negative theanine side effects whatsoever! So feel free to take it.

buy l theanine
I always take one little easpoon of L theanine when I want to focus.

However, there are 2 things I want you to bear in mind:

Watch out with habituation

The first thing is that when you take L theanine every single day, you might experience some habituation. The effect will still remain and it’s not anything like caffeine or alcohol tolerance.

But what I’ve found (and many others) is that if you take it for concentration purposes, the concentration bonus can get less after 3-4 days of taking it. This is mainly because you will start experiencing the extra focus as normal. And you will still be able to focus better – it’s just not as pronounced as it was in the beginning.

And talking about focus – I highly recommend you make a short To Do List or plan when taking L theanine. Knowing what you will do with the extra focus is necessary.  Because if you don’t, you might find yourself being so incredibly focused on your Facebook wall or WhatsApp chats that 2 hours might go by and you’ve gotten nothing accomplished!

Or feeling too relaxed

This is the next thing to watch out for. It’s not a negative thing – but taking 300+ mg of L theanine can make you very relaxed or sleepy. This is great on many occasions. However, if you’re already tired and you still need to drive somewhere, this can be a bad thing.

So if you still have things to do that require you to be fully awake, then don’t take more than 300 mgs of theanine. Or if you do, drink a cup of coffee with it to make you feel awake again!

So what is the right way to take theanine?

The right dosage of L theanine depends on for what purpose you take it. The 3 main reasons why people take L theanine are:

Here is how much L theanine you should take in each of these occasions:

L theanine to reduce anxiety

If you want to reduce anxiety I recommend you take 200 mg of theanine in the morning. This is a good dosage to make you feel calmer throughout the day. If you want to, you can also take 200 mg more in the afternoon. You can safely take it every day because the anxiety releasing effect will stay and does not habituate.

L theanine to become more focused

If you’re using L theanine to become more focused and getting work done. Then I recommend you take around 100 mg twice in a day. For the best effect you can add it to c good cup of coffee. You can expect around 2-4 hours of good focus. So if you take 100 mg at 8 in the morning, you can then take 100 mg more after lunch.

For lasting concentration results it’s better not to take it more than 3 days per week. This will make sure that your brain won’t habituate and start seeing L theanine as the new normal.

l theanine coffee
Take L theanine with coffee to increase the concentration bonus!

L theanine for relaxing and sleeping better

If you sleep badly, and want to take L theanine to sleep better, than I recommend you take around 200 mg 2 hours before you go to bed. You will find that all the thoughts in your brain will start calming down. This will help you fall asleep. As a bonus, your sleep quality will also be better!

If you take L theanine to relax at night, or to sleep better, then you can take it every day of the week. There is no need to take days off. Although you could do that to if you would want that. But there is no harm in taking it for a longer period of time.

Ashwagandha Benefits Men: 4 Reasons Why Men Should Take Ashawgandha

ashwagandha benefits menIf you’ve been around for some time in the supplement world, then you’ve probably heard about ashwagandha. It’s a herbal supplement that can be used for a variety of things. But it’s the most famous for the good things it does for the male body. Find out what the ashwagandha benefits men are in this article!

If you’ve ever thought about the following questions around ashwagandha, then please read this article carefully:

  • “What is ashwagandha?”
  • “What are the ashwagandha benefits men?”
  • “Is ashwagandha safe?”
  • “Where can I buy high quality ashwagandha for a good price?”

I’ll answer all these questions (and more in this article). The reason why I’m writing this is because I have a lot of experience taking ashwagandha. This article is written from personal experience. All these ashwagandha benefits men are also backed up by science.

What is ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is an ancient Ayurvedic root that is used for a wide variety of things. IS considered to be an adaptogen. Adaptogens strengthen the adrenal glands in the body. The adrenal glands are responsible for many different things, but the main thing that they are known for is to produce adrenaline.

adrenalin causes the flight-or-fight response. In people who are overly stressed, the adrenal glands have usually taken a hit. Taking ashwagandha can help rejuvenate the adrenal glands.

It also works to increase GABA in the brain. GABA is a calming neurotransmitter that helps regulate overactive neuron in the brain. This is the same thing L theanine does.

It also offers a whole slew of other benefits. The name of ashwagandha means ‘horse’s smell’. The reason for this is that it has a very distinguishable smell. I recommend you to take ashwagandha in some water. This way the taste will not overwhelm you. It’s also easier to swallow it, since it is pretty dry powder.

Alternatively, you can also buy ashwagandha in pill form. This is one of the easiest ways for new users to experience all the ashwagandha benefits men has to offer.

ashwagandha powder
If you want to take ashwagandha powder, you can use a little micro scale to weigh it.

Speaking about that – let’s dive into the benefits this amazing herb has to offer you!

Ashwagandha benefits men:

Ashwagandha decreases stress

As I said before, ashwagandha helps to increase the function of the adrenal glands. They will perform better and this in turn will do two things:

  • Your overall stress levels will go down.
  • When you do encounter a stressful situation, you will be better able to handle it.

This means that you’ll feel calmer on a day-to-day basis if you take ashwagandha. Studies have been and a double-controlled placebo studies found that after taking ashwagandha daily for 60 days cortisol levels dropped as much as 27%!

Since cortisol is directly responsible for how stressed and anxious you are feeling, this means that taking ashwagandha will drastically reduce stress. You will feel better in your daily life and better equipped to handle stressful events.

Ashwagandha increases testosterone

As men age, their testosterone levels become lower and lower. especially after they turn 30, their male hormone levels take a hit. Studies have been about the relationship between testosterone and stress. And the result of this has been that the more stress you experience, the higher the chances are that you’ll have low levels of testosterone.

Now, because ashwagandha decreases stress in males, it is therefore a very good supplement to take if you suffer from low testosterone. You will feel younger again, and there will be more benefits, such as:

Ashwagandha increases your sex drive & sperm levels

High stress is also linked to a lower sex drive. And the lower your testosterone, the lower your sex drive as well. This means that when you take ashwagandha, you’ll increase your libido in two ways:

  • You’ll feel less stressed. The more stressed you are, the less you’re in the mood to have sex. So the less stress -the higher your libido.
  • Higher testosterone makes you want to have sex more.

A natural consequence of all these is that your sperm count also goes up. High sperm levels are linked to overall health in males.

Ashwagandha increases physical endurance

Another benefit of the ashwagandha is that you’ll increase your physical endurance. If you’re a runner, swimmer or cyclist, then you always need an edge over the competition.

Ashwagandha can help you to give just a bit more. Since it increases testosterone and decreases stress, your body will be better equipped to handle tough training sessions. And when it’s time to compete, your body will be able to work harder than before.

And also if you’re not a professional athlete, it’s always nice to be more physically fit. The best way to explain this is as follows: when you’re working out, there is a certain point in which you just can’t give any more effort. Your completely drained.

Whether that’s another rep with weight, another lap around the field or another sprint to get to the ball. In any sport you can reach the point of complete exhaustion. You’re just empty. When you take ashwagandha, you will have more strength. When your reach this point of exhaustion it will be easier for your body to go for a little longer. To run for a bit more.

I highly recommend taking ashwagandha if you’re playing sports.

Where to buy Ashwagandha?

If you want to experience all the benefits ashwagandha has to offer men, then you can simply order it on the internet.

Studies have been done about the safety of ashwagandha and it is considered a very safe supplement. It is even alright to take it every day. And with all the stress decreasing effects that ashwaganda has to offer, I recommend you take it for a t least a week every day.

You’ll notice the difference. I like to use it for a couple of days, and then not for a couple of days. but that’s just my personal preference.

If you want to experience a higher sex drive, more testosterone and less stress….

… then you can get your ashwagandha on Amazon!

P.S. Don’t wait any longer to become a better man and get some ashwagandha now!

Natural Cures For Anxiety: 7 Methods That Actually WORK

natural cures for anxietyA great deal of the adult population suffers from anxiety. Even may kids nowadays seem to express the signs of anxious lives. And instead of searching for natural cures for anxiety, many people seem to take the path of mediating their own anxious feelings.

Now, you’re on this site, so congratulations. You’re taking action. If you suffer from anxiety then it is a great idea to look for natural cures for anxiety. I’ll explain you exactly why in the course of this article. For now, there will be several questions that are likely running through your head:

  • “Are there natural cures for anxiety?”
  • “Why is a natural solution better than taking drugs?
  • “What types of natural cures are there?”
  • “Where should I start to get the best results?”

If any of these questions are of interest to you, and you want to know the answers. Then I highly recommend you read this article very carefully. I’ll give you some of the most effective natural cures for anxiety.

So, if you suffer from an anxiety disorder, or you’re experiencing anxious thoughts on a day-to-day basis, then this article is for you.

Natural cures for anxiety

Throughout history people have always been looking for cures against the problems that they had. At first this meant that people would drink tea and use herbs to combat their anxiety. People even used meditation to successfully guide their anxious feelings into supportive and calm ones.

These treatments were very effective. However, at the start of the 19th century pharmacy started to develop anti-anxiety drugs. These quickly became popular since they offered really fast relief for people who were suffering from panic attacks or anxiety.

anxiety pills
There are hundreds of different synthetic pills you can take for anxiety.

Over the course of the last decades, they have only grown in popularity. Chances are, that you’ve taken at least of them. The mos popular anxiety drugs are:

  • Xanax
  • Klonopin
  • Valium
  • Ativan
  • Serax

Now, these drugs are all very effective and have great anxiolytic properties. Unfortunately…. they also can have severe sides effects. It’s not uncommon for people to develop an addiction to one of these drugs.

That’s because most of them work through unnaturally increasing calming neurotransmitters in the brain. And what happens when you take the unnatural route is that you’ll have some god results at first. However, as time goes by, you’ll find it more and more difficult to feel good if you’re not taking the drugs.

And because they all work unnaturally, you might even notice that your anxiety symptoms are getting worse…

Why a natural cure?

Now, if you’ve read the previous paragraphs, then you can guess why it’s better to go for natural cures for anxiety. The reason is simple. Natural cures for anxiety focus on the root of your anxiety problem.

Drugs focus on getting rid of the symptoms fast. And there of course is a time and a place for that. However, if you’re looking for a long-term solution to your anxiety. Then you have to go with natural treatments.

natural treatments anxiety
Natural cures for anxiety work better in the long run!

Natural treatments can be generally divided into 2 categories. I’ll explain you exactly which ones in the following paragraphs:

2 types of natural cures

The natural cures for anxiety can be divided into 2 different groups. Each with their own actions that you can take to combat your anxious feelings.

  • Lifestyle changes – Everything that you can do to reduce your anxious feelings. Things like diet, behaviour etc. all fall under this roof.
  • Supplements – Natural supplements are like drugs. However, there is 1 big difference. Supplements work in a natural way. Therefore they should not cause addiction to the supplement or any other negative effects.

Lifestyle changes

If you’re really serious about beating anxiety, then this is the place where you should focus most of your effort on. Why? because it gives you the most bang for your buck. It’s the place where you can achieve long-term results for your anxiety.

Now, you’re probably curious what kind of lifestyle changes are effective for treating anxiety. Well, here is a short list of actionable steps that can help you treat anxiety:

  • Diet – You have to make sure to eat a healthy diet. When your body does not get all the vitamins and nutrition it needs, then your brain will also not function optimally. The easiest way to start improving your diet is to eat only foods that are natural. So no processed foods or food that comes in a box. Healthy options are: fish, meat, vegetables, fruit, rice  etc.
  • Workout  – This ties in to the previous point. A healthy body = a healthy mind. The absolute best workout you can do for anxiety is taking a walk. You’ll find that the more you move, the less your anxiety has a grip over you.
  • Coffee – Coffee increases stress hormones in your body. If you drink more than 3 cups a day, I highly recommend you try to drink less coffee. This alone can make a HUGE difference in your anxiety problems.
  • Cigarettes –  Cigarettes are also known to increase stress in the body. Quitting smoking will help you get rid of the anxious background anxiety that smokers get.
  • Sleep –  Sleep is the best way to rejuvenate your body and mind. If you wake up fresh and with a lot of energy, you’ll guaranteed feel better during the day.
  • Meditation – You can also try meditation. A simple 10 minutes a day will help you control your thoughts and stave of anxious feelings.

L Theanine ADHD: Can L Theanine Help Reduce ADHD Symptoms?

l theanine pillsL theanine is a natural supplement growing in popularity for all kinds of mental issues. Some people use it against anxiety, others use it to increase focus, and some people even use it to combat all the negatives from ADHD. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder affects more and more (often young) people in our society. But is L theanine ADHD a solution?

  • “Does L theanine work against ADHD?”
  • “And is it safe?”
  • “What is the recommended dosage L theanine ADHD?”
  • “Why are natural supplements better than stimulants such as Adderal or Ritalin?”

If you suffer from ADHD and you want a  natural solution – or if you’re a parent and your child suffers from ADHD, then read this article carefully. You can find all the answers about L theanine ADHD.

NOTE: I’m not a doctor. I do have experience with theanine and I have seen how it can help people with ADHD. However, ADHD is a serious condition, please consult with your doctor before you start taking theanine instead of regular medications.

L theanine ADHD – Can it help?

ADHD is most often diagnosed in children and adolescents. Its symptoms are inability to concentrate, trouble finishing projects, hyper energy and forgetfulness.

Most medicines against ADHD are stimulants such as Ritalin or Adderal. While they work, they are also addictive and can have negative side effects. Therefore many people are looking for natural alternatives to combat ADHD.

ritalin theanine
Adderal and Ritalin are heavy stimulants that can be dangerous for young persons.

It is especially worrisome that so many young children are taking these heavy stimulants. Because pure biochemically, the way Ritalin functions isn’t that far from how cocaine works. In my opinion (and that of many others) the drugs that are used now to combat ADHD are far too harsh in side effects.

I therefore propose a natural methods that also works (albeit in a different way), and will not cause permanent damage to the brain of children with ADHD. And L theanine is one supplements that can be effectively used for ADHD. I’ll explain you why:

What does L theanine do?

L theanine is found in green tea and has a very calming effect on the brain. The reason for that is because it supports the natural production of GABA. This is a neurotransmitter that is responsible for protecting neurons from stress and overactivation.

GABA reduces the fight or flight response in the body. Therefore it is very effective to create a calm mood.

Theanine also increases the production of dopamine and serotonin. 2 neurotransmitter responsible for the correct functioning of the brain. As you might know, Adderal also works through dopamine, albeit in a non-natural way.

When you take L theanine, it gives you the following effects:

  • attentiveness
  • Focus
  • Sense of stability

And it is exactly these things that are usually lacking in people who suffer from ADHD. Therefore, l theanine is an effective natural supplement against ADHD.

When theanine is taken for ADHD, it won’t give the *buzz* that traditional ADHD drugs do. Instead, l theanine will attack the problem at the root. It will make the overactive neurons in the brain calm down.

Instead of feeling buzzed up from drugs, l theanine will make you feel calm and relaxed. It will be easier to focus your attention on the task at hand. You will also feel less distracted and it will be easier for you to concentrate your thoughts.

What is the recommend dosage L theanine ADHD?

While recommended dosages for L theanine seem to differ between persons, a safe dose will be somewhere between 50 and 200 mg. The younger the person suffering from ADHD, the less l theanine is necessary.

When L theanine is taken in pill form, generally 1 capsule is enough (100-200 mg). And when l theanine is taken as powder form, then half a teaspoon is the correct dose.

Is L theanine safe to take?

Some people might be concerned about the safety of L theanine. Now, theanine is water-soluble. This means that your body does not store it. Your body will simply remove all the excess theanine in water that is not used.

In addition, research has shown that there are no negative side effects to taking L theanine. It is a natural component of green tea and can be taken as much as needed to relieve symptoms from ADHD.

green tea theanine
Theanine is naturally found in green tea. Therefore is is a very safe supplement for ADHD.

An interesting to note here is that the Japanese government has allowed companies to add L theanine to specific food & beverages without limit. That is because in Japan there is a long history of using L theanine and there are no negative effects.

So if you suffer from ADHD, there is no need to worry about the side effects of taking L theanine.

On the contrary, many medications people regularly take for ADHD (Ritalin and Adderal) can be very damaging. They are classified amphetamines and can be habit-forming.

Many people are becoming increasingly worried about the use of these heavy chemicals for young kids and teens who suffer from ADHD.

So, L theanine offers a natural option. If you’re worried about taking Adderal or Ritalin for your ADHD, then taking theanine can be one of the best things you do!

Where can you buy L theanine?

Theanine can be bought at many places. I recommend getting it on the internet, since there are more places available to get it. I’ve always had good experiences with Amazon, so you can get your theanine there.

On top of that, Amazon offers a wide variety of different types of L theanine. This means that you can pick the right brand and dosage. Here is the brand that I recommend:

What Is Choline: Benefits of This Vitamin & 10 Choline-Rich Foods

what is cholineWhat is choline? If you’ve been around the supplement community for a while, you’ve probably heard about this supplement. Actually, choline is a macro-nutrient, but it can be difficult to get enough choline through your diet.

That’s why many people take choline as a supplement. It’s a very safe supplement to take, since it’s a macronutrient. Choline helps your body with the following:

  • Brain function and development
  • Healthy functioning of the liver
  • Exercise
  • Heart health
  • Maintaining high energy levels
  • A healthy metabolism

In this article, I’ll give you a quick outline that answers the ‘”What is choline” question. I’ll also give you a reference list of 10 foods that you can eat to maintain a healthy level of choline in your body. At the end you’ll find the recommended choline supplement (for when it’s difficult for your to get your daily dose of choline through your diet)

So, let’s dive into this article about choline! (what is choline and the benefits it has for your health)

What is choline

Choline is a macro-nutrient that can be found in a wide range of natural foods. It is water-soluble, just like many of the B vitamins and is responsible for many metabolic processes in the body. It mainly supports energy and brain function. And since these are 2 very important things, a choline deficiency can have a wide range of symptoms.

Here are some of the symptoms for choline deficiency:

  • Fatigue
  • brain fog
  • Learning disabilities
  • Mood changes
  • Muscle aches

If you experience any (or all) of the above signs, then it’s a good idea for you to check your choline levels. You can also start incorporating choline-rich foods into your diet to see if the symptoms go away.

choline deficiency
If you experience brain fog, then it could be that you have a choline deficiency.

Alternatively, you can take a choline supplement. They are generally inexpensive and choline has no side effects. Many people notice an increase in brain function, since choline is one of the main components for the key neurotransmitter acetylcholine. This neurotransmitter works as an anti-aging neurotransmitter and helps improve your brain function and communication between neurons.

On top of that, choline has a slew of other heath benefits. Continue reading to find out the benefits of choline:

Benefits of choline

#1 Good for your liver

Choline helps to transport fats in the body. This is very important for the liver, since it can prevent build-up of fatty acids in the liver (also know as fatty liver).

A healthy level of choline is required to keep the liver in good shape and prevent liver damage. And a healthy liver is very important, since it helps you clean your body and stay healthy.

choline alcohol
Choline helps prevent liver damage. It is therefore a good supplement to take if you regularly drink.

#2 Helps with memory & brain functioning

As said before, choline helps with brain functioning. The neurotransmitter acetylcholine is responsible for a well-functioning brain. As we  age, our brains become less elastic. And one of the reasons for this is that our body produces less acetylcholine.

By making sure you get enough choline, you can improve the memory of the brain. It also helps to prevent cognitive decline. It might therefore help to stave off Alzheimer’s disease.

Curious about another supplement that increases brain function? Read my L theanine review here.

#3 Increases exercise and muscle performance

Since choline is important for communication in the brain, it can help improve your athletic performance. A healthy choline level is needed for optimal reaction times.

On top of that, choline helps with high energy levels. And high energy levels are good for sports and exercise. It also preserves nerve endings, so your muscle will recover better from strenuous exercise, like biking, or running.

#4 Good for your heart

Choline helps to increase the body to make homocysteine. This molecule assists in preventing fat build-ups in your body. This is very important as it also prevents fat build-ups in the arteries.

Fat build-up in the arteries is one of the main causes of strokes and heart problems. Therefore, getting enough choline is essential if you want to avoid heart problems.

#5 Benefits development of the (unborn) child

The developing brain uses a lot of choline to make new connections between cells. That’s why pregnant women should make sure they get enough choline in their diet or through supplements.

Choline will support a healthy pregnancy. And when the baby is born, the brain is still developing. A growing child also needs enough choline to make sure their brains develop well.

A mother can also help the baby after it is born by breastfeeding. Mothers milk is naturally very rich in choline since it is so important for the baby’s health.

choline health
I’m sure Einstein got enough choline when he was a baby!

How to get more choline

There are 2 ways to get more choline: through your diet. Or by taking choline supplements. I suggest you take a look int he following list of choline-rich foods and see if you can add some to your diet.

Alternatively, feel free to take choline supplements. They’re not that expensive and it won’t harm you. And if you suffer from a choline deficiency, than taking choline supplements may be one of the best decisions you can make.

10 foods rich in choline

Here’s a list of foods that contain a lot of choline:

  • Liver
  • Salmon
  • Split peas
  • Beans
  • Eggs
  • Grass-fed beef
  • Chicken breast
  • Turkey
  • Cauliflower
  • Brussel sprouts

You probably can add some of these foods to your diet. But if you feel you need more choline, then I recommend taking supplements:

Choline supplements

There are many choline supplements available. However, the quality is not the same for most of them. I recommend the following choline supplement: ALPHA-GPC Choline. The reason for this is that it’s a safe high-quality supplement. It contains 300 mg of choline, which is enough to get the health benefits of choline.

On top of that, if you get it from Amazon, it’s also inexpensive. And since choline is very important for your health, it’s good to get a high-quality inexpensive supplement.

L Theanine Dosage For Sleep: Get Better Sleep With L Theanine

l theanine dosage for sleepHave you ever slept bad? Or trouble with falling asleep at night? If you have, then you’re (obviously) not alone. A high percentage of the adult population has trouble falling asleep. And many of them also wake up several times at night. This causes them to feel unrested in the morning. Have you ever experienced this and do you want to know what the right L theanine dosage for sleep?

Then continue reading this article! I have tons of experience using l theanine. I’ve used it to combat panic attacks, make me more productive. But I also use it once a while when I have trouble falling asleep.

So, if you want to know what the right l theanine dosage for sleep is, read and find out…

L theanine dosage for sleep

Taking L theanine is a great thing to do for your health. Because of the calming effects on your mind, it can help you reduce stress and anxious feelings. This, on its own is already a  great thing if you’re suffering from stress at night.

Stress as night can cause you to lay awake and make it difficult for you to fall asleep. I wrote another article about L theanine and sleep before. I highly recommend you read that article first, so you know a bit of the background science. And then come back tot his article to find out the right l theanine dosage for sleep.

But if you’re in a hurry, I’ll quickly summarize the article in the following paragraph:

Why L theanine helps you to sleep

The reason why L theanine is great for helping you sleep is because it calms your brain cells. L theanine increases the production of the calming neurotransmitter GABA. Which is responsible for decreasing overactive neurons.

l theanine for sleep
l theanine helps you fall asleep and sleep deeper!

Alcohol also works through GABA, but luckily for us, l theanine doesn’t have the side effects that alcohol has. You can safely take l theanine without side effects.

If your brain cells are too active before going to bed, this can be bad for your sleep in 2 ways:

  • You might not be able to fall asleep. You’re laying in bed and trying to calm down, but you just can’t seem to slumber away.
  • You wake up several times at night or only have shallow sleep cycles. This is when you can fall asleep, but you’re waking up because of stress. This is bad because it decreases the precious sleep quality that you’re getting

So, l theanine helps with these 2 problems (and some more. Read the aforementioned article to find out!). Therefore it helps you sleep. If you suffer from not being able to fall asleep, or very restless sleeping patterns, then try L theanine. You’ll surely notice the benefits and that it helps you sleep better!

What is the right L theanine dosage for sleep?

Before we dive into the right L theanine dosage for sleep, I want to make 1 thing clear. The optimal dose depends on your body-weight and how you react to L theanine.

You might therefore have to try a couple of different doses to find out what the right one for you is.

However, this is not a problem, since theanine generally helps in even smaller quantities.

So, to start, I recommend you take around 150-300 mg if you have trouble falling asleep.

Take 150 if you’re on the lighter side, and 300 if you’re larger. These guidelines are not set in stone, but I have found that they work for me (and several other people).

theanine dosage
Half a tablespoon of theanine is around 150 mg

I’m 155 pounds and when I take a teaspoon of L theanine, it makes me very mellow and relaxed. Taken 1 hour before bed, it always makes me slumber away right after I hit the pillow.

So, take 150-300 mg of l theanine 1 hour before going to sleep.

Some people find that they need more than 300 mg. This is okay, since l theanine is not harmful in larger quantities to the body. So, if you feel 300 mg is not enough, you can take 300-600 mg. All the theanine that you take in excess, your body will simply excrete through your urine.

Now worries about overdosing 😉

Now, if you suffer from sleep problems, then chances are that there are some other factors that can help you sleep. So, in the following paragraphs you can take a look at some lifestyle factors that – in combination with l theanine – give you amazing sleep!

Other things that will help you sleep:

L theanine is great for helping you sleep. You can increase its potency by incorporating the following lifestyle changes in your life. Here are some of the things I’ve found to have a great impact in my sleep quality (and time it takes to fall asleep):

Sleep in a dark room

Try to make your room as dark as possible. This means black out curtains, removing small light from chargers and appliances (I absolutely hate the blue flickering light that my laptop charger had). The darker your room, the more at ease your body will be.

The best sleep I’ve ever had was when I was living in an apartment where I had window blinds installed. My room was completely dark.

A dark room will help you fall asleep better and wake up more refreshed. Oh, and getting a good mattress will also help a lot!

Don’t eat too much before bed

Eating before bed is no problem. However, don’t completely stuff yourself. If your stomach is overly full, then you’ll have trouble finding the right position to sleep in.

Additionally, your body will be diverting all this precious energy into digesting – and not in repairing your body!

Reduce your caffeine intake

The final thing is to limit your caffeine intake. You can still drink coffee, but try to stop drinking coffee after lunch.

l theanine coffee
While coffee works great together with L theanine, drinking it too close to bed time will hurt your sleep.

Coffee has a very long half-life (the time it takes to disappear from your body). If you drink it after lunch, chances are it’s still affecting your ability to fall asleep at night.

What is an anxiety disorders?

‘what is an anxiety disorders?’ is a question that many people ask. Anxiety disorders is a group name for a series of disorders that can all have anxiety in common. The cause of this can be biochemical, genetic or environmental factors.

If you suffer from any of these disorders, you likely experience a high degree of anxiety and fear in your life.

Anxiety is a form of excessive worrying about future events. Fear is a reaction to present events.

Do you suffer from an anxiety disorder?

Since there are many different types of anxiety disorders, you can find out best if you suffer from one by reading the descriptions of each respective disorder. However, if you suffer from excessive anxiety, that cannot be traced back to a normal response, then chances are high that you suffer from one.

Again, if you suffer from anxiety once in a while, then don’t worry. This is completely normal. However, if you experience excessive anxiety on a regular basis, then you might have an anxiety disorder.

Note: I’m not a doctor. I have had a period in my life in which I was experience bouts of OCD. So I do know quite a bit about the subject. If you think you have an a serious disorder, it’s best to go and see a doctor!

Different types of anxiety disorders

Here is a list of the most common anxiety disorders. What is an anxiety disorders and do you suffer from it? Read each description carefully to find out.

what is an anxiety disorder
There are many different types of anxiety disorders

General anxiety disorder

In short, this disorder is called GAD. It’s a common disorder which is characterized by a long-lasting anxiety that is not explainable by a certain object, event or situation.

People who suffer from GAD experience fear on a constant basis. They are overly concerned with simple daily matters and experience 3 or more of the following symptoms:

  • fatigue
  • restlessness
  • irritability
  • muscle tension
  • concentration issues
  • bad sleep

If you experience constant worry and 3 or more from the previous series of symptoms, then you probably have general anxiety disorder.

Specific phobias

It is estimated that around 5-12% of the world adult population suffers from a specific phobia.

A phobia is when a person experiences extreme fear and anticipates horrible consequences when they encounter the object of their fear. Most people who suffer from phobias know that their fear is irrational, but they still feel overwhelmed by it.

Common phobias are:

  • Animals (snakes, spiders)
  • Blood
  • Heights
  • Dark
  • Clowns

Panic disorder

A panic disorder is when a person has a short attack of intense terror. It will be difficult to breathe, the person will experience shaking, confusion, dizziness and sometimes nausea.

Panic attacks can be short (less than 10 minutes), but some people experience hours of panic.

It is still unsure why people experience panic attacks, but causes can be:

  • stress
  • exercise
  • fear

Social anxiety

People who suffer from social anxiety usually experience intense fear for negative opinions about themselves from others, social embarrassment and humiliation.

Sometimes a person can even fear social interaction. This is a phobia that can be very troublesome. The symptoms of social anxiety are often physical symptoms, such as:

  • blushing
  • sweating
  • difficulty speaking

Many people who suffer from social anxiety choose to avoid social interactions. They can therefore easily fall into social isolation.

Post-traumatic stress

Post traumatic stress disorder is when a person has encountered a traumatic experience, such as combat, rape, natural disasters or child abuse.

The symptoms of this anxiety disorder are:

  • flashbacks
  • hypervigilance
  • anxiety
  • anger
  • depression

If you suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, you should go and see a doctor.

Situational anxiety

Many people experience this kind of anxiety at one point in their lives. It is when you experience high anxiety levels in a certain situation. This can be in crowded or tight spaces.

But sometimes people also suffer from it when they enter a complete new environment. Think about entering college, getting married or even having children.

Again, this form of anxiety is more common, so if you experience it, it doesn’t mean that you really have a problem. Situational anxiety can be a form of coping with a certain situation.

If the problem persists for a longer period of time, than you might have to go and see a doctor

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)

OCD can be characterized as a condition in which a person has obsessions and compulsions.

Often a person has intrusive thoughts that are causing stress. Often these are accompanied by anxiety.

When a person has intrusive thoughts, they often perform a specific action to get rid of the anxiety.

However, this is often not a permanent solution and within a short period of time, the intrusive thoughts will come back.

Simple example that everyone can identify with: you’re going on vacation and 20 minutes after you’ve left the house you wonder whether you’ve turned off the gas, closed all the windows, locked your door etc.

This is normal. However, if you’re constantly worrying about for your entire vacation, and even call people to check your house multiple times, then is starts to look like OCD.

And this example even deal with a rational fear. Most people with OCD worry about trivial things, such as having their apartment completely straight, only having things in pairs and other things that shouldn’t cause worry to the normal person.

Final words: what is an anxiety disorders

If you’re worrying if you have an anxiety disorder. You can read the previous list to see if you identify with one. You can go see a doctor that can help you.

P.S. Did you know that you can also take natural supplements against anxiety? I successfully used L theanine to overcome OCD attacks. You can read my article about how L theanine helps with anxiety here.
