l theanine dosage for anxietyAre you suffering from anxiety? You might know that l theanine is a great supplement when you suffer from anxiety. Not only does it help your brain to calm down, but it also physically relieves stress. And as you know, stress is a big cause of anxiety. But what’s the optimal L theanine dosage for anxiety?

And what is best time to take l theanine if you suffer from anxiety? Are there any different types of anxiety that you should take into consideration?

If you’re looking for the answers to these questions, you’ll get them in this article (& a whole lot more!). So, if you suffer from anxiety, and want to know what the right l theanine dosage for anxiety is – then please read this article carefully!

L theanine and anxiety (recap)

I’ve written before about how l theanine is a very effective supplement against anxiety. If you haven’t yet read that article, then I strongly advise you to do so, before ordering any theanine. But just to be sure, I’ll give you a quick recap of what I wrote in that article. (it’s a simplified explanation)

  • L theanine works by increasing the calming neurotransmitter GABA in your brain
  • This helps your brain to reduce overactive neurons (that are overactive if you’re anxious)
  • I found l theanine because I was suffering from OCD attacks – I knew I had to find a natural supplement that worked.
  • It’s better to take a natural supplements vs medication, since natural supplements works at the root of your anxiety problem.

So, now that you’re fully up to date and know how l theanine can help you decrease stress and anxious feelings. Let’s discuss the optimal l theanine dosage for anxiety!

l theanine anxiety
Feeling anxious is a very stressful way to live.

L theanine dosage for anxiety

There are several types of anxiety. And each of these needs to be addressed in a different way. For now, it’s enough to know that 100-300 mg of l theanine is generally recognised to be enough to reduce stress and anxiety.

However, you might find that you need a little bit more. The best way to find this out is by experimenting. I recommend you start of by taking 100 mg. This is very easy to take if you get L theanine powder. And if you opted for l theanine supplements (in pill form), than you should take 1 pill.

l theanine dosage anxiety
The optimal l theanine dosage for anxiety is 1-3 pills per day.

However, some pills contain 200 mg per dosage. So, you could either take half, or just take the entire pill.

Should you worry about overdosing theanine?

No, there is absolutely no reason to think about that. let me explain. L theanine functions as the building block for GABA. Since your brain uses the supplement to naturally increase the production, you don’t have to worry about overdosing.

Research is pretty clear on this. It’s virtually impossible to overdose, all the extra theanine you’d take would be pissed out. (however, that would be a waste of supplement, so I recommend you stick to 100 – 300 mg!)

What kind of anxiety do you have?

Anxiety can generally be divided into 2 categories:

  • Constant background anxiety – you feel slightly anxious all the time.
  • Panic attack – usually you feel fine, but sometimes a certain situation or event can trigger a massive anxiety response in your body and brain.

L theanine helps with both these types.. However, there are some slight nuances in the right l theanine dosage for anxiety. Here are the explanations:

Constant anxiety

If you’re suffering from a constant background anxiety that is making life difficult for you, then you have to take action now. Not only is it very bad to be living constantly in some kind of fear, but it’s also drastically decreasing the quality of your life.

If you’re feeling this, then I recommend you take 100 mg of theanine when you wake up. 100 mg again around noon, and 100 mg at night before going to bed.

l theanine anxiety dosage
If you have theanine in powder form, the the best l theanine dosage for anxiety is around half a tablespoon (150 mg)

People with constant anxiety would do better to take regular doses of l theanine spread out around the day. You can safely take l theanine for longer periods of time. It has no harmful side effects.

Panic attacks

If you suffer from panic attacks, it is first important that you know what the trigger is. And how often you get them. If, for instance, you tend to panic in the mornings or when in crowds, then you should take 200 mg of theanine around 1 hour before you’re going to get into these triggering situations.

If however your panic attacks come up without warning, you can take 100 mg l theanine in the morning. And then when your anxiety attack starts to come up, take 200 mg of theanine.

You’ll find that the morning dose will reduce your stress all day. And the 200 mg you take whenever you start to feel really anxious will help you cope with it. L theanine will help you reduce the intensity and the length of time you’re suffering from the anxiety attack.

Other helpful tips against anxiety

Taking theanine works like a charm to reduce feelings of anxiety. It is a natural supplement that you can take for long periods of time to reduce stress and anxious feelings.

It is completely fine to take l theanine on its own without any further changes to your life if you want to beat anxiety. However, there are a few simple lifestyle changes you can make to reduce anxiety in your life and feel better in general. Here they are:

  • Reduce caffeine intake  caffeine increases stress hormones in your body. If you have anxiety, then it’s better to stay away from coffee. If you really cannot stop drinking coffee (I know how you’re feeling;)), then try to reduce it to maximum 1 cup a day.
  • Take a small walk during the day – a small walk during the day will help you clear your mind. Also, walking is a great way to reduce stress and get some light aerobic exercise that benefits your body.
  • Follow an exercise program (or play a sport) – working out or playing a sport is a great way to use your stress in a beneficial way. You’ll find that after an intense workout or training session, that it’s virtually impossible to feel stressed!
  • Sleep enough  – the last thing you should do, is to sleep enough. Sleeping recovers your body and mind. If you’re too stressed to fall asleep on time – no worries! Taking 100 mg theanine before bed will calm you down and make you fall asleep easily.

These tips together with L theanine should get you really far to beat your anxiety. A lifestyle approach combined with natural supplements should do wonders for your anxiety. You’ll finally feel calm again and won’t have to worry about stressing out!

Side Effects l Theanine: What to Watch Out For With L Theanine

side effects l theanineIf you’ve ever heard about all the beneficial effects of L theanine, you´re probably curious if there are any downsides to taking this supplement. You´d likely ask yourself the question `what are the side effects L theanine?`.

If you want to know the answer to this question, then please continue reading. I’ll explain you all the side effects l theanine has. You’ll be surprised…

Side effects L theanine

L theanine is a great supplement if you’re looking to reduce stress enhance focus and concentration, or if you’re suffering from anxiety attacks. It’s an amino acid that helps you produce the calming neurotransmitter GABA. This causes your brain to relax and you will feel calmer.

Now you’re probably thinking: a supplement with that many benefits probably has some negatives to it,, right? Well, that’s what you would think. But did you know that…

Theanine has no real side effects

That’s right. Research is very clear on this. There are no real side effects L theanine has. Now, with real side effects I mean things like hypertension, damaging your liver, and other things that can be really bad for your health.

However, L theanine is not something that I recommend you take every day in unlimited quantities. Not because it can be dangerous for your health, cause it’s not (even if you take as much as you want)

Note: with the supplement L theanine your body takes as much theanine as it needs. The rest you will excrete through your urine. So, it’s safe to take theanine. however, taking more than your body needs, is a waste of supplement. I therefore recommend you take around 200-400 mg per day maximum!

There are a couple of things you need to watch out for

So, it’s safe to take it everyday. You won’t damage your health nor will you feel bad. Then why am I saying that it’s better to watch out with this supplement? Well, the answers are simple. It can reduce the effect, or you could get too used to taking theanine.

I know that for me, when I’m taking the supplement to increase my focus and concentration. If I’m taking it more than 4 days, I get too used to L theanine’s effect. This in turn diminishes the focus-enhancing effect.

l theanine focus
If you’re taking L theanine for focus enhancement – I recommend you don’t take it more than 4 days in a row.

So, here are my L theanine dosage recommendations:

Don’t take it every day

As I said before, don’t take L theanine every day. Especially if you take it for focus enhancing benefits. the reason for this is clear. If you take it every day, your brain and body will start to get used to it. And it will be less effective.

However, another thing I’ve noticed is that the anxiety reducing effect does not get less if you take it for a longer period of days. So, if you suffer from anxiety and that is the reason why you’re taking l theanine, then feel free to disregard the advice I gave in this paragraph.

Don’t take too much at once

Another thing that you should watch out with is taking too much L theanine at once. Again, this is not dangerous for your health. But it can make you very sleepy.

if you’re suffering from insomnia, then this is obviously a great thing! But if you still need to drive somewhere, then the last thing you want is a supplement that makes you sleepy.

l theanine dosage
I usually take 150 mg (a tablespoon) of theanine

Dosages that I consider ‘too much’ depend on how your own body reacts to L theanine of course. but I’ve found that for the average guy taking more tan 500 mg of theanine at once is more than enough. Any more and you risk feeling very sleepy. If this is your goal, then there is no problem of course!

Get quality L theanine

The last thing you need to watch out for is that you get quality L theanine. Since this supplement is becoming more and more popular every single day, there are also more and more producers of L theanine on the market.

Most of them use tested L theanine from some of the bigger manufacturers out there (Suntheanine comes to mind), but some of them do not.

I highly recommend you check the manufacturer from the theanine that you’re about to buy.

So far, I’ve found that the theanine is of good qaulity with the following producers:

  • Every theanine brand that is made from ‘Suntheanine’
  • Myprotein.com
l theanine myprotein
You can find quality L theanine at Myprotein,.com

If you’re unsure if the theanine that you bought is of high quality, feel free to leave a comment with a link to where you bought it.

Final words side effects L theanine

Since this is one of the shorter articles on this site, I wanted to do a quick recap of everything we just discuss about the side effects L theanine. Here’s the summary of this article:

  • L theanine has no real side effects. It’s not dangerous for your health. Science has confirmed this.
  • Your body only uses the amount of L theanine that it can use. The rest your body will just excrete through urine.
  • But there are a couple of things that you have to watch out for:
    • taking theanine every day can reduce its effectiveness if you take it for concentration enhancement
    • if you take too much theanine at once (500+ mg), then you can start feeling very relaxed and possible sleepy. Watch out if you still have to drive or do anything else that requires your full attention.
  • Always be sure to check the manufacturer of the theanine. Everything containing Suntheanine or from Myprotein.com is alright.

So, that’s it for the side effect L theanine. If you have any questions about how to use l theanine, other benefits of this supplement, or a general comment about the site. Then feel free to leave a comment! I’d love to help you out with any issue that you have concerning theanine or any other supplement!

Herbal Anxiety Remedies: How to Naturally Beat Anxiety

herbal anxiety remediesAre you suffering from anxiety? Then you’re not alone. Many adults (and children) suffer from anxiety in their day-to-day lives. Unfortunately, many of them solve their anxiety problems by taking prescription drugs. They are effective. However, they can be addictive and dangerous for your health. Therefore, if you suffer from anxiety, it is best to try herbal anxiety remedies before you start taking heavy prescription drugs.

If you’ve ever wanted to know the answers to the following questions – then read this article carefully.

  • “What are herbal anxiety remedies?”
  • “Why is better to take a natural supplement than prescription drugs?”
  • “What are the best herbal anxiety remedies?”
  • “Is it safe to take herbal supplements?”

I’ll handle all the above questions (and more) in this article. So, if you suffer from anxiety, and you want a healthy, natural alternative to taking pills that take a heavy till on your body – please continue reading!

What are herbal anxiety remedies?

Since the dawn of time people have been using herbs to treat all kinds of illnesses. For most health issues there are many herbs that can help alleviate symptoms. Some can even treat the issue by itself.

Since most herbs have been around for a long time, they are safer than many newer pharmaceutical solutions. Why, I’ll explain later. But for now it is sufficient to say that herbal remedies have been around for a long time. And if they wouldn’t work, people would not be using them anymore.

stress supplement
Herbal supplements work by helping your body cope with stressors.

Herbal anxiety remedies are herbs that are very effective against anxiety. They can also help if you suffer from panic attacks. There are many herbs that claim to have anxiolytic effects. However, there are only a couple of them that are proven to work. I’ll explain which ones they are in the sections below.

But first, it’s important that you know why herbal anxiety remedies are better than pills… Let’s find out!

Why are natural herbs better than pills?

There are thousands of pharmaceutical pills that you can take against anxiety. Among the most popular are:

  • Xanax
  • Klonopin
  • Valium
  • Ativan
  • Serax

Now, I’m not saying that these pills are always bad. There exists a time and place for these remedies. I’m not a doctor, so before you throw away your pills, please consult with a medical specialist what you’re about to do.

However, these pills come with a certain amount of side effects. many of them are habit-forming(addictive). Which means that when you stop taking them you’ll suffer  from withdrawal.

Another issue with these solutions to anxiety is that they work in an unnatural way. What I mean by this is that instead of solving the root of the anxiety problem, they often only mask the symptoms.

And when you mask the symptoms, the root causes of your anxiety tend to become worse. So when you stop taking prescription drugs, you anxiety will come back even stronger!

pill anxiety
Prescription drugs can be addictive and when you stop taking them, you can go through withdrawal.

That’s why it’s better to take the natural route. Because:

  • Herbal anxiety remedies focus on the root of your anxiety.
  • They are also not addictive.
  • And they work in a natural way – so they have few side effects.

Different types of herbal anxiety remedies

Since there are many different types of herbal anxiety remedies out there. I’ve decided to focus on the 2 that have the best proven track record. There are thousand of people who are using these 2 herbal supplements every day to take control over their anxiety.

I have both used them myself. And I can safely say that these 2 supplements are the real deal when it comes to beating anxiety and taking control over anxious feelings. If you suffer from anxiety, I highly recommend checking out these 2 supplements:

L theanine

L theanine can naturally be found in the leaves of green tea. It explains why green tea has such a calming effect, compared to other beverages that also contain caffeine.

l theanine anxiety
When I start feeling anxious, I take half a teaspoon (150 mg) of L theanine to help me remain calm.

L theanine is very effective for:

  • Feeling calm.
  • Reducing stress.
  • Controlling your thoughts.

Ashwagandha

Another great herbal remedy is ashwagandha. It is pretty difficult to pronounce. but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t work.

It’s a natural root that is described as the ‘Indian ginseng’. You can take ashwagandha to:

  • Cope with daily stress.
  • Reduce feelings of anxiety.
  • Feel more focused and less distracted in your daily life.

Ashwagandha is also an adaptogen. This means that it helps your body cope with a wide variety of stressors. You can find out more information about Ashwaghanda here.

Extra tips for beating anxiety

I highly recommend you check out these two herbal anxiety remedies L theanine and ashwagandha. they are both very effective against daily stress and anxiety.

If you, however feel you need more than a supplement to feel less anxious, you can try the following lifestyle changes:

  • Take control over your diet.  A healthy body is a healthy mind. you’ll be amazed at how well your body will be able to cope with stress if you give it all the vitamins and mineral that it needs.
  • Daily exercise. It’s very difficult to feel stressed after a god workout. You can release all your nervous energy by working out, or playing a team sport. Daily walks also help to clear your mind and make you feel less stressed.
  • Reduce caffeine intake. Ass you might know, caffeine increases stress hormones in your body. If you suffer from anxiety, try to reduce you daily caffeine intake to no more than 3 cups per day. preferably in the morning.
  • Sleep well. The better your sleep, the better your body will be able to handle stress. try to sleep at least 7 hours to give your body ample rest.

P.S. Feeling stressed? Use L theanine to get rid of anxiety. It’s one of the most effective herbal anxiety remedies available on the market!

L Theanine For Sleep: Increase Your Sleeping Efficiency

l theanine for sleepIt is estimated that 55% of people feel that they would function better in life if they would be able to sleep more. Can you identify with this statement? Chances are that you too would like to sleep deeper and longer. But how do you do that? One of the supplements that works very well is l theanine for sleep.

When you take l theanine for sleep, you will fall asleep faster & your sleep will be deeper. If you want to know everything there is about l theanine for sleep. How it works and what the right l theanine dosage is, then continue reading!

NOTE: I wrote an article before about l theanine and sleep. In it I explain how you can use L theanine to sleep deeper. I’m also giving you a couple of extra tips that you can use together with l theanine to drastically improve the quality of your sleep! You can read the article here.

L theanine for sleep

L theanine is a supplement that consists of the amine acids glutamine and glutamic acid. It works very well to reduce stress in the human body, because glutamic acid is one of the building blocks for the relaxing neurotransmitter GABA.

The more GABA you have in your brain (up to a certain optimum of course), the more relaxed and calm you’ll feel. And as you would’ve guessed – GABA also helps you sleep well.

If you would like to sleep better, than taking l theanine for sleep can work very effectively. Many people around the world use it to fall asleep and it’s one of the main benefits that people use this supplement for.

I even use it myself when I have trouble falling asleep. Usually I fall asleep pretty quickly, but once a while when I’m stressed out because of work, or when my mind doesn’t want to calm down when I’m lying in bed, I like to take a tablespoon of theanine.

theanine sleep
If I’m having trouble sleeping, I take a tablespoon of theanine. I fall asleep very quickly after that!

taking a tablespoon of theanine always quickly makes me relax and become calm. After this I fall asleep into a deep sleep very quickly.

3 reasons why l theanine helps you sleep better

If you experience the same as I do sometimes, then taking l theanine for sleep can be one of the best things you do to make you sleep better. If you want to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day, you might want to look into getting yourself a theanine supplement.

Other than that. If you experience:

  • restlessness before going to bed
  • that your mind keeps you awake when you’re lying bed
  • shallow sleep (you sleep 7+ hours, but you wake up feeling unrested)

than theanine can help you sleep better and deeper. Here’s why:

L theanine helps you relax before bed

One of the greatest benefits of l theanine for sleep is that theanine helps you relax. Chances are, that if you’re working hard during the day that you might have trouble completely relaxing at night.

many people experience this and it’s one of the main reasons of insomnia. If you’re feeling anxious or restless at night, it will take a long time before you fall asleep. Added to that, you probably also wake up several times at night instead of sleeping in one long uninterrupted sleep.

l theanine relax
Trouble relaxing at night? Taking l theanine will help you take the edge off your day!

Now, since theanine helps you relax, it’s a great idea to take some theanine if you’re feeling anxious or restless at night. not only will the theanine increase the relaxing neurotransmitter GABA in your brain, but it will also make your body feel less stressed.

L theanine clears your mind

Theanine can also clear your mind. That’s why I recommend l theanine as one of the best natural supplements for anxiety! But if you don’t suffer from anxiety, you can still benefit from this. How? Well, the answer is simple.

Have you ever experienced that you were ready to go to sleep, but when you were lying in bed your mind just didn’t want to stop talking? I’m not talking about voices in your head. But I mean the inner voice that’s always in your mind in the back ground.

It might bring up new ideas, or remind you of stuff that you did during the day. Or maybe it already plans what you’re going to do the next day.

And sometimes it just doesn’t want to shut up! This is when you can take theanine. The theanine will calm down your brain, so that it won’t interrupt itself and you can peacefully go to sleep.

It makes you sleep deeper

The final benefits of l theanine for sleep is that it makes you sleep deeper.

The reason for this is just like the previous ones. L theanine increases the relaxing neurotransmitter GABA in your brain. This makes it easier for your brain to remain in a deep sleep. Distractions are also less likely to wake you up.

Dosage l theanine for sleep

Now that you know everything why you can take l theanine for sleep, you’re likely curious how you should take l theanine to sleep better?

Luckily, the answer is simple for this question.  I recommend you take around 100-300 mg around 1 hour before going to bed.

theanine capsules
If you buy theanine in capsules – 1 capsule is often enough to help you fall asleep!

If you have a bigger build, then go for 300 mg, and if your posture is smaller, then likely 100-150 mg theanine would be enough for you.

Again, if it doesn’t work, then you might need to take a larger dose. And if you’re worried about any negative effects from taking too much theanine – don’t worry. All the excess theanine that you take, that your body is unable to use, it will simply excrete it through your urine.

So, a short summary: L theanine will help you sleep better & deeper. It will make you more relaxed before going to bed, and will increase the quality of your deep sleep. Take 100-300 mg before bed (depending on your build), and you’ll experience the sleep-enhancing effect of L theanine!

Health Benefits L Theanine: 3 Reasons Why You Should Take Theanine

health benefits l theanineHave you heard about the health benefits l theanine? Not only is l theanine a great natural  supplement that has virtually no side effects, but it also has numerous benefits for your mind and body.

If you’re curious what l theanine can do for you, then read this entire article. In it, I’ll explain you the greatest health benefit l theanine has to offer. I’ll also give you a short and concise guide to l theanine dosage. So that you can get the maximum out of these benefits.

NOTE: I’ve used l theanine for more than 3 years and it’s a very useful supplement. And many people all over the world agree with me. I don’t use it daily, but whenever a specific situation comes up in which I can use some of health benefits l theanine offers – I like to take the supplement.

If you don’t know yet what l theanine is – read my what is l theanine article first!

Health benefits L theanine

L theanine is found in green (and black tea). There are also some mushrooms that produce this supplement, but they are pretty rare. If you’re looking to consume l theanine, than you realistically have 2 options:

  • Drink green tea
  • Take an l theanine supplement

Green tea ia  great beverage to drink every day in your daily life. It has a great deal of benefits for the mind and brain. Unfortunately, it’s not a great choice if you want the health benefits that l theanine has to offer.

Why? Because green tea only contains a minimal amount of l theanine. You’d have to drink 5-10 cups before you would reach the same l theanine dosage as you would get when you take 1 supplement.

Later on, after the health benefits l theanine gives you, I’ll explain to you the optimal dosage for theanine supplementation!

But, for those of you who want to know what L theanine can help you with…. here’s the list of health benefits l theanine!

Reason #1: L theanine decreases stress

L theanine works great to reduce stress. Most people in the world feel stressed at some point during their day. And stress can have a big impact on your health.

Chronic stress can damage your body in numerous ways. It can cause ulcers in your stomach, can reduce your sex drive, cause heart disease, makes you feel tired and can even shrink some parts of your brain!

l theanine anxiety
If you’re feeling continually stressed, you can cause a lot of damage to your body

So, it’s very important to combat chronic stress. It can literally save your life. Taking l theanine is one of the things that I (and thousands of others) have found to effectively reduce stress.

And I’m talking about the two types of stress here:

  • Chronic ‘background’ stress – L theanine makes you feel calm and relaxed. But not in a sleepy way. It’s an effective day to feel more grounded and less overall stress during the day.
  • Acute stress – Since you’re more grounded and calm during the day, you’ll be better able to handle acute stressful situations. You’ll be able to more effectively work and make the right decisions in a stressful situation.

Reason #2: L theanine can help you sleep better

The next of the health benefits l theanine can offer you is better and deeper sleep. Now, this ties in to what we spoke before about. Many people experience stress even at night after their work has ended.

If you’re feeling stressed right before going to bed, you’re obviously not going to get a great night of sleep. We all know this out of experience.

Have you ever laid awake at night in bed, with your thoughts going crazy. maybe you were thinking about a presentation you had to give the next day. Or maybe you were still feeling stressed because of something that happened during the day.

And maybe you were even stressed because you couldn’t sleep. And you were counting the minutes to when you’d have to get up. Which were becoming fewer and fewer. Which made you even more stressed!

You probably have experience on (or all) these situations before. How did you sleep that night? I’m guessing not that well. And in turn you felt bad the next day – because you didn’t sleep enough!

l theanine and sleep
L theanine can help you sleep better and deeper!

So, it’s very important that you reduce stress at night in order to let your body and mind fully recover during your sleep. L theanine reduces stress and when taken at night can greatly enhance your sleep quality!

Reason #3: L theanine is an antioxidant and is great for the liver

If you’ve read the what is theanine article that I linked to in the introduction, then you know that the chemical formula of l theanine consists of 2 amino acids: Glutamine and glutamic acid.

The glutamic acid can work as a powerful antioxidant. Especially your liver can use this antioxidant very well.

Now, you probably know about the damage free radicals cause, right? They’re the source of aging, arthritis, liver damage and whole lot more. Simply put, a free radical can damage almost any issue in your body.

Your body needs a defense against this. And that’s where antioxidants come in. In the liver, l theanine gives an electron to a free radical – thereby neutralizing its devastating effect!

l theanine alcohol
If you have an event coming up that includes alcohol – you can take l theanine to reduce the devastating effects of alcohol on your liver!

Studies have been done and shown that l theanine is especially protective to liver damage from drinking alcohol. So if you’re planning on a party, you might want to consider stacking up on some l theanine!

What is the right dosage for the health benefits l theanine gives?

If you’re curious about what the right dosage is for each of these health benefits l theanine has to offer, here’s how you can take l theanine:

  • Reduce stress – take 100 mg l theanine in the mornings if you’re continually stressed. If you know a stressful event is coming up, take 150 mg.
  • Sleep better – take 150-300 mg l theanine 1 hour before going to bed
  • Protect your liver  if you have a party or event coming up, you can reduce the harm of alcohol by taking 150 mg of theanine before drinking. Additionally you can take 150 mg more when you go to bed to help your liver handle the alcohol while you sleep.

What Is Suntheanine? 5 Uses of Suntheanine for Focus & Anti-stress

what is suntheanineIt’s estimated that around 65% of the adult population suffers from stress. So chances arr high, that you also have experience with this. Luckily there are many ways to combat stress and one of them is Suntheanine. What is Suntheanine? And how can it help you reduce stress and become more focused?

If you’re looking for the answers to these questions and more, then continue reading…

What is Suntheanine

Suntheanine is a brand of theanine. It’s the most common brand of theanine, and many other theanine products purchase Suntheanine to include in their supplements.

The company that produces Suntheanine is Taiyo, a Japanese supplement company. It was founded in 1946 after the second world war. Over time they have become one of the producers of the highest quality theanine. Their theanine is generally considered that good, that many people think the brand Suntheanine is the only effective theanine.

Luckily for us, we know that Suntheanine is not the only effective form of L theanine. It is very high quality, that’s true – but there are other producers of l theanine who produce effective theanine as well. So, if you’re unable to get your hands on pure Suntheanine, there’s not need to worry

Is there a difference between Suntheanine and regular l theanine?

After answering the question ‘what is Suntheanine?’  many people want to know what the difference is between Suntheanine and regular theanine.

myprotein theanine
Most of the time, I use regular L theanine from Myprotein. Its potency is just as strong as Suntheanine.

As explained before, the difference is small. Suntheanine is a high-quality form of regular theanine. However, if you’re unsure of the purity of your theanine, I recommend you try to get some pure Suntheanine.

That way you’ll be sure that you will be getting a quality source of L theanine that is guaranteed to work!

Speaking of that… Let’s talk about all the things that Suntheanine has to offer you!

What is Suntheanine: 5 benefits of Suntheanine

Depending on your build, 50-200 mg of Suntheanine should be enough for the following effects:

1) Suntheanine helps reduce stress

Clinical studies have shown that Suntheanine is very effective in reducing stress. So if you experience stress at some points in your life, taking 50-200 mg of l theanine can help you calm down.

Prolonged stress can be dangerous to your health. Therefore it is a good idea to take Suntheanine when you feel stressed. Not only will you be more effective in your working life, but your friends and family will also notice the difference when you’re less stressed.

L theanine increases alpha waves  in the brain these waves are generally seen in the brain when it is deeply focused (for instance in monks when they’re meditating). Suntheanine is sometimes even compared to ‘meditation in a bottle’.

If you suffer from stress, taking 50-200 mg of Suntheanine can help you calm down and make you feel more relaxed.

2) Suntheanine increases your ability to focus

Another benefit of theanine is that it clears your mind. You will be better able to focus after you take Suntheanine. This of course offers the most benefits in your professional life.

If you have a busy job in which your attention needs to be 100% dedicated to that task at hand, then l theanine can greatly help you keep your focus.

theanine coffee
Taking Suntheanine with a cup of coffee will give you laser-like focus!

You can also combine theanine with coffee to increase the cognitive effects of coffee. The theanine works together with the coffee to create a ‘flow’ state in which you can easily focus and time seems to fly.

Want to experience the most focus-enhancing effects of Suntheanine? Take 100 mg with a cup of coffee. You will easily be able to focus for long periods of time on 1 project that requires all your attention.

3) Suntheanine helps clear your mind

Have you ever experienced the feeling that your mind was overflowing with all kinds of thoughts? If you have, then you’re not alone.

For example, it is very common for adults to be thinking about work after they’ve come home. The time that is spend at home should be used to recuperate from your intense work day, and so your mind should be clear.

If, however, you’re constantly think about your work at home, you will not completely relax. This can cause tiredness and stress.

Taking some l theanine when you come home from work can help you clear your mind. This will help you completely relax and regenerate so you can give your best the next day at work.

L theanine helps you clear your mind so you can completely relax. This is very useful if you’ve had a long day at work and you even after you’ve come home, you can’t seem to shake off work-related thoughts.

4) Suntheanine can prevent anxiety attacks

This goes a step further than reducing stress. Some people are prone to anxiety attacks. This means that their response to stress is out of proportion.

Stress is one of the most common causes of anxiety attacks. When left untreated they can become worse over time. Taking Suntheanine on a daily basis can help prevent anxiety attacks, since your brain will be better able to cope with stress.

I wrote an entire article about the relationship between theanine and anxiety. Click here to read how theanine can help you if you suffer from anxiety.

5) Suntheanine is an antioxidant

The final reason why you should take Suntheanine is that theanine also acts as an antioxidant in your body. You probably know that antioxidant can help your body fight off free radicals.

Suntheanine consists of the amino acids glutamic acid and glutamine. Glutamic acid works as a potent antioxidant in the liver. Taking theanine is therefore a great way to keep your live in good shape.

If you combine the relaxing effects of theanine with its potency as an antioxidant, we quickly see why so many people swear by taking Suntheanine before going out to a bar, cafe or party. Not only is it a great way to have a good time, but the antioxidant properties can also help your body break off the alcohol quicker.

theanine alcohol
Planning a rough night? Taking Suntheanine can help your liver combat all the added stress.

If you experience liver issues, or you’re going away for a drinking night, then taking Suntheanine can help your liver recover from the added stress.

What Is an Anxiety Attacks? What to Do When You Suffer a Panic Attack

what is an anxiety attacksEver had the feeling of a sudden panic attack come up? Did it make you feel very uncomfortable? Maybe you even went a little bit crazy. Whether you’re alone or out with friends or colleagues – an anxiety attack is never a good feeling. ‘”What is an anxiety attacks?”  is a question that often pop ups up.

And that’s why I decided to write this guide about a panic attack. And more importantly what you can do against an anxiety attack whenever it suddenly arises.

If you’ve ever had a panic attack, or you’re just wondering “what is an anxiety attacks?”, then I highly recommend that you carefully read this article. There’s a lot of dense information and a step-by-step guide how you can feel calm again when you suffer from an anxiety attack.

Anxiety attacks – the guide

I’ve divided this anxiety attack guide into 2 parts. In the first part you’ll learn what is an anxiety attacks. And in the second part I’ll teach you what you can do whenever you suffer from an anxiety attack.

There are several very easy and simple methods that ar available to everyone. So you don’t need any expensive equipment or anything to rid yourself of an anxiety attack.

All you need is some common sense and the will to regain control over your body. But before I’ll explain how that goes, let’s discuss what an anxiety attack exactly is:

What is an anxiety attacks?

Your body produces cortisol whenever something stressful happens. This was a very useful thing to have hundreds of thousands of years ago when we were still living on the African plains and lions were chasing us.

Whenever you’re in danger, your body start producing cortisol. It’s the stress hormone Cortisol makes you feel that anxious feeling, when your mind and body are 100% to fight or flight.

l theanine anxiety
An anxiety attack is a very intense negative experience.

Now, as I said before. This is very useful if you’re being chased by a lion (or in a more likely scenario: you’re walking down a dark alley and you see some thugs who want something from you).

You’d have the speed to run away fast, the strength to fight back, and the metal sharpness to think of a quick solution that would get you out of danger.

But what happens if there’s no real danger and your cortisol response get’s triggered?

That’s when you have a panic attack. Whenever there are no real-life dangerous situations and your body reacts as if there is – you experience a panic attack.

This can happen because of your surroundings. For example, if you have to give a speech in front of a hall full of people, your body also sees this as a very threatening situation. However, there’s not ‘real danger’.

However, it can also happen because of something that’s wrong in your body or brain. Your body might have over-developed the cortisol reaction to something. An example of this is a phobia.

If you have a spider phobia, your body will suffer from a panic attack whenever you see a spider.

So, now that you know the answer to what is an anxiety attacks, let’s discuss the best methods to calm your body and mind down.

What to do when you suffer a panic attack?

If you’ve ever suffered from an anxiety attack, then you know that it’s very difficult to think clearly. That’s why I recommend you read the following sections several times, so you really know what to do whenever a panic attack strikes.

Here are the 3 things you can immediately do that will make you feel calm again:

Control your breathing

The first thing you have to do is to try to control you breathing. Now, this might seem easier than it is when you’re suffering from an anxiety attack. However, it is crucial that you do this.

Your body and mind are constantly communicating with each other. If your body is anxious, your brain will be too. So the first thing you have to do is control your breathing. Slowly inhale and exhale to relax your body. Make sure you inhale fully in your belly.

You will find that when you relax your body by breathing slowly and deeply, your mind will start to become calmer too.

Distract yourself

So, now that you’ve controlled your breathing and your anxiety attack is already becoming a bit more manageable. The next thing you have to do is distract yourself. Now, you could take out your phone or watch television. But what’s even better is that you go for a walk.

Taking  a walk has several benefits. For one, it will occupy your body, Taking a walk is something relaxing. And when your body is related, your mind will also be.

And it will also give you a fresh supply of clean air. In addition, when you go for a little walk around the block it will give your mind a lot of natural distractions. Your mind will start to focus on these distractions instead of the things that were causing your anxiety.

By now, you should be feeling again a little better and a little more calm. But what to do if you’re still feeling anxious?

Take the right supplements

If you’re still feeling anxious, then I recommend you take some supplements against anxiety. One of the most effective natural supplements for anxiety is called L theanine. You can read my article about l theanine and anxiety here.

l theanine anxiety
L theanine comes in pill or powder form.

But, for brevity’s sake, I’ll keep things short here. L theanine is a natural supplement that comes from green tea and is very effective against stress.

I won’t cover the entire mechanism how l theanine works in your brain here (you can read the previously mentioned article about that), but  it works by providing your brain with the necessary amino acids to produce the calming neurotransmitter GABA. (GABA, by the way, is also how alcohol works. but l theanine doesn’t have the side effects that alcohol has).

So, what this means is that your brain will regulate itself and increase its own defense against stress!

You can buy l theanine here for a good price.

Continue reading if you want to find out what…

Short introduction to L theanine

L theanine is an amino acid that is commonly found in green tea. It is the reason why drinking green tea is such a calm experience compared to other beverages that contain caffeine.

theanine tea
Theanine can be naturally found in green tea.

L theanine is also know around the world as simply ”theanine’ or as ‘Suntheanine’. Suntheanine is actually a specific brand of theanine and the other 2 can be used interchangeably.

The main components of each are the same: Glutamate and Glutamine. You might have heard these two names before. That’s because they are amino acids that your body can use for a whole lot of purposes.

What exactly, I’ll  explain below in “5 benefits of L theanine” section. For now it’s important that you know why theanine works. Here’s a quick overview of how it works. I’ve tried to explain it as simple as possible, but it might get a bit scientific…

Here’s a quick overview of how theanine works in body:

  1. After you take the theanine supplement, your stomach and intestines take up the theanine and it gets into your bloodstream.
  2. There it goes to your brain and crosses the blood-brain barrier.
  3. Your brain can use the glutamate as a building block for the calming neurotransmitter GABA
  4. GABA is involved in many processes in your brain. But the main ones are relaxation of your brain and inhibiting overstimulated cells.
  5. This causes your brain to shift into a calmer mode of thinking (hence the focus & anti-anxiety effects!)

So, in a nutshell. Theanine is used as a building block in your brain for a calming neurotransmitter (GABA). There are other medications (even alcohol) that increase GABA in the brain, but they have many side effects.

theanine capsules
You can buy theanine in capsules.

Since theanine is a building block, your body only uses the exact amount of l theanine that it can use. The rest you will safely excrete through your urine. L theanine therefore has no negative side effects.

Two types of people that’ll love L theanine

In my experience, there are 2 types of people who will benefit the most from taking theanine. See if you can identify with one of them:

Not only will it make you more calm and relaxed in your day-to-day life, it can also make you more tolerable to acute stress. You will be able to make better decisions and will feel better whenever soething stressful happens to you.
  • The person who is often distracted – drinking a cup of coffee with theanine can be very effective to increase focus. If you find that you’re often distracted at work or while studying, you can try the caffeine + theanine combo to regain your focus. You’ll find that it will be much easier to enter a flow state and it will be very easy to fully concentrate on the task at hand.

Natural Remedies Anxiety: 3 Simple Steps You Can Do to Beat Anxiety

natural remedies anxietyDo you suffer from anxiety? Do you feel stressed in your daily life? If you are, then you’re not alone. It’s estimated that over 55% of all adults feel anxiety at some point on their life. But luckily there are a lot effective natural remedies anxiety.

Natural remedies anxiety can be very effective. However, they often bring up a lot of questions. Do you sometimes wonder:

  • “What is better: medicine or natural remedies anxiety?”
  • “Is it safe to take natural supplements for anxiety?”
  • “Are there any lifestyle changes I can make to be less anxious?”

If you want to know the answers to these anxiety-related questions and a whole lot more, then I invite you to rad this entire article with great attention. not only will I tell you why it’s better to take natural supplements versus medicines. But I’ll also give you some tips how you can adjust your lifestyle so you feel less anxious.

Natural remedies anxiety

There are many natural supplements available that combat anxiety. Since anxiety is something innate in humans, every culture has their own methods to deal with anxiety.

Many eastern cultures prefer to use natural supplements, such as herbs, tea and meditation. And many western societies read for the over-the-counter medications to combat their anxiety.

But which one is better for your health? And which one is the most effective to combat your anxiety long-term? Let’s find out….

Natural supplements versus medication

Since you know the name of this site, it’s already pretty clear which side we support. The natural supplements of course. Nevertheless, it’s a good idea to tell you why exactly natural supplements are better to combat anxiety. Here’s why:

  1. Natural supplements can help your body combat anxiety by itself. They focus on the root of the problem, not on the symptoms. This makes natural remedies anxiety more effective in the long-term.
  2. Many medications work in such a way that they’re effective in the short-term, but over the long-term they can actually worsen your anxiety symptoms. Why? Because your body get’s used to the constant medication that reduce your stress levels. Your brain will start to accept this and the new normal and down-regulate its own anti-anxiety mechanism.  This means that when you stop taking the anxiety medications, your body will be less able to cope with the anxiety.
  3. Many natural remedies are easily available for a low-cost. you can simply order them through the internet or at a local herb store. For medications (the ones against anxiety), you usually  need a prescription + they’re more expansive.
  4. Natural supplements have fewer side effects than medications.

Taking natural supplements against anxiety works well to beat your anxiety!

So, not only are natural supplements easier to get, more effective in the long run and better for your health, but they also cost less! On top of that, when you start focusing on the root of your anxiety problem, you’ll usually make some other lifestyle changes.

Most people who take pills against their anxiety do not take this holistic approach, They see medications as the end-all be-all of their problem. Even though they could drastically decrease their anxiety by a couple of lifestyle changes.

By now you’re probably curious what you can do to feel better. Continue reading…

The top natural remedies anxiety:

Change your diet

The first thing you need to do is take a good look at your diet. Are you eating a lot of processed foods? Do you eat enough vegetables? Are you drinking a lot of coffee? Do you give your body all the nutrition it needs to optimally function?

If not, you might be able to reduce your anxiety already by starting to eat healthier. Here are a couple of tips:

If it does, then it might be a good idea to see if you could move out and live on your own. Or to get a job in which you feel more comfortable.

In other cases, you shouldn’t look for drastic solutions like the ones mentioned above. often, just taking a walk if you’re sitting inside all day can do a lot to brighten up your mood.

Or, if you’re working behind a desk all day, then going to the gym might be a good option too. Whenever your body is active and healthy, your mind will follow!

L Theanine Anxiety: Why Theanine Works Like Magic Against Anxiety

l theanine anxietyChances are, that you’ve experienced anxiety in your life. Whether it’s a real problem in your life, or you occasionally suffer from a bout of anxiety – feeling anxious and nervous is never a good experience. Luckily there are many calming supplement available. And one of them is theanine. Continue reading this l theanine anxiety review  to find out exactly how theanine can combat anxiety.

For those interested, I’m also giving you a short description why l theanine works against anxious feelings.

If you’ve ever experienced an anxiety attack or want to get rid of feelings of nervousness, then L theanine might just be what you need.

NOTE: I do not suffer from anxiety attacks (anymore). When I was younger I ocasionally used to have OCD attacks. This led me to research which natural supplements could help me feel better whenever I had an attack and how to prevent them. Since finding (and using) l theanine the occurrence and severity of my attacks have been drastically reduced!

L theanine anxiety

Nobody likes to have anxious feelings. Even they do serve a purpose (to warn your brain against danger), many people have problems with feeling anxious or anxiety attacks.

Most of the time, these feelings are not based on dangerous real-life situations. And often the problem lies in the fact that your anxiety response is way too high for the event that caused it. Sometimes there even is no event that caused it – just the thoughts in your head (OCD and others).

So, since most of the time the problem lies in your head. And it is caused by a dis-balance in neurotransmitters. What this means is that you have too much glutamate (activates neurons) and not enough GABA (decreses activity in neurons).

Anyway, I’ll come back to the scientific part later on this L theanine anxiety page. let’s find out what happens when you take l theanine against anxiety…

L theanine works like magic against anxiety

L theanine calms you down. Many studies have shown this effect. L theanine is commonly found in green and black tea and explains why you don’t feel as ‘pumped up’ after a cup of tea compared to a cup of coffee (even though they both contain a lot of caffeine).

So, theanine calms you down. What happens when you take l theanine is that your brain starts to produce more GABA. Remember, that’s the neurotransmitter that  decreases activity in your brain cells.

Many other anxiety supplements also work by increasing  GABA. Think of benzodiapenes and others. Even alcohol increases GABA (and that’s why alcohol works against anxiety – short term).

However, there are many problems with these unnatural remedies againast anxiety:

  • Often, when you stop taking the medicine, your anxiety will return twice as strong. This is because these medicines  increase GABA unnaturaly.
  • Many of these medicines also are toxic to your body. They put a lot of stress on your inner organs (especially your liver) and therefore are not a long term anxiety cure.

So, you need a NATURAL supplement

Because most over-the-counter medicines and alcohol have their obvious downsides, you’d do well to look for a natural anxiety supplement.

You need a supplement that works over the long term.

This is ibvious, since you do not want to harm your body and you’re looking for a cure that will make your anxiety go away. Taking medicines usually makes the anxiety become bigger in the long term…

L theanine anxiety is one of these natural supplements. And so far one of the most effective too, that you can take on a long-term basis.

Research has shown that there are no negative side-effects to taking theanine. Heck, there are even governments (Japan), that encourage the use of theanine in beverages and food.

Why l theanine works (naturally)

One of the amino acids in l theanine (glutamix acid) is a precursor to GABA. Now, in simple words this means that it is one of the building blocks for the calming neurotransmitter GABA.

If you’re not producing enough GABA (if you have anxiety, then you probably don’t have enough GABA), then your neurons are continually in ‘overdrive’. In other words, they don’t know when to stop and relax.

Chances are, that you don’t produce enough GABA, because you don’t have enough ‘raw materials’. And this is where l theanine comes in.

When you take l theanine, you provide your body with the necessary materials to produce the calming neurotransmitter GABA.

And that’s why l theanine is very effective against anxiety.

But why is l theanine anxiety naturally helping you?

Your body has its own optimal balance of neurotransmitters. This means that it knows exactly how much of each you need to feel calm and function optimally.

Now, if there’s a deficit in some of the raw materials to produce neurotransmitters… then you body wants to produce more GABA. But it simply cannot. Because there’s not enough building blocks.

That’s when you take theanine  and provide your body with the means to combat anxiety.

This also means that it’s impossible to take too much theanine. When you take in more theanine than you need, your body simply uses all the theanine it needs, and discards the rest through your urine.

Now, taking a lot of theanine can make you sleepy, so I want to give you some recommendations for how to optimally dose l theanine anxiety.

Recommended l theanine anxiety dosage

If you suffer from anxiety, then l theanine is one fo the best supplements you can take to naturally combat anxiety.

But, how much theanine do you need? What is the optimal l theanine dosage against anxiety?

I recommend you take somewhere between 200 and 600 grams of l theanine if you suffer from anxiety.

The best thing would be to take it 2 or 3 times per day. 100-200 grams per time.

Now, as I said before. It’s really difficult to overdose on l theanine. Because it has no side effects. However, the anxiety releasing effect might become a little less trong if you take many grams per day on end.

That why I recommend you take 100-200 grams 2-3 times per day to combat anxiety.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment or get in touch with me.
